Hi! My name is MC Johnsen, and I’m an illustrator, homebrewer, and sometimes bar tender. These designations are all side projects; I am a professional web designer by day. In March of 2014 I decided to start this blog as a place where I could express two of my passions – illustration and craft beer – together in one happy medium.
Here on the blog I taste and write about a variety of beers, visit breweries, and attend craft beer events and festivals. I visually record my experiences by creating an original illustration, usually by drawing the aromas and flavors that I perceive in a beer I’ve tasted, but sometimes I’ll draw a cute animal enjoying a brew.

My canine pal Dallas is always there to motivate me with her cute face and doggy cuddles, and my husband Matt is an ever-reliable partner when it comes to sampling beers. (If I’m being perfectly transparent, Dallas has also stolen a few sips of beer over the years.)
The blog has evolved to include an online store where I sell prints of my illustrations, plus a few original surprises on occasion. Since the store and blog have launched, I’ve participated in a handful of events as a vendor, and have covered a number festivals as a member of the media. It’s been so much fun to meet people and new friends this way, and I am so grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have come out of this endeavor.
Find me on Instagram and Twitter @worth1000beers, or on my Worth 1000 Beers Facebook page. You can also check out my store at shopworth1000beers.com.
Cheers!
Mary Clare:
Maureen alerted and connected me to your wonderful beer blogs. I cannot claim to have read it all as yet, but I have certainly skimmed, enjoyed comments, and photos. I consider myself a beer aficionado, but am humbled by your knowledge and ability to communicate it. I have been privileged to travel a lot (49 countries and counting) and have lived and worked in six countries–U.S., Germany (it was West Germany then, the Bundesrepublik Deutschland), Scotland, Romania, Belgium, and Norway. A few beers there eh? My favorites tend to have a story and a reason which is not necessarily in any way related to reality. I will share them with you sometime. At the top of my list is Guinness Stout, that brewed in Ireland and not exported. Of course, as we both know Stout is not beer. I very much appreciate all this. (I am not a twitter or facebook or anything else kind of person)

Hello Ed! It is so great to hear from you and I am flattered to death that you enjoy the blog. I would love to hear your beer stories, especially about Guinness Stout. And actually, Matt and I are going to visit Belgium this coming June! We’ll be in Brussels, Brugge, maybe La Roche, and Antwerp so if you have any recommendations I would love to hear those, too. Much love to you and April! ❤

Hi MC! Just wanted to say it was nice to meet you last night. I love your blog! Your illustrations are brilliant, and I love the quick draw concept of drawing what you taste as you sample a beer.
