Yes, my good friend Matt Deming went to Belgium and without me even mentioning it, brought back the most coveted of all beers, a Westvleteran 12. I may have screamed aloud when I saw the label-less wonder perched upon my desk, anticipating my Monday morning arrival to work. Eeeeeeee!
I tasted it on Saturday. Was it the “best tasting beer in all the world?” Well, that depends. Do you like Belgian beers? How about Belgian Quads? Do you like Rochefort 10? In my opinion, it tasted like a Rochefort 10 on a complete ‘roid rage of awesomeness. Richer, fuller, Belgian-ier, and with a gentle warming finish like a glass of fine whiskey. I loved it. I would drink it all the time if I could. Does this define the best beer in the world? For me, maybe yes.
But I contend that the title of “best beer in the world” is largely subjective, and it might always be the beer you’re holding in your hand right now. Awww, cheeseballs. 😀
Thanks for reading. Have you had the great luck of tasting a Westvleteran 12? What did you think? In your opinion, what is the best beer in all the world?
